The Romania Long-Stay Visa for Economic Activities (D/AE) is designed for non-British citizens residing in the UK who intend to carry out independent economic activities in Romania. This includes individuals authorised as self-employed professionals, sole proprietors, or members of family-run businesses. Applicants must demonstrate compliance with Romanian legal and professional standards as outlined in the relevant legislation.

Eligibility

  • Must be a non-EU/EEA national with valid UK residency
  • Must meet all legal and professional requirements outlined under Romanian legislation, including Government Emergency Ordinance (GEO) No. 44/2008
  • Must provide proof of qualifications or professional training aligned with the proposed activity
  • Must have no criminal convictions and possess valid travel documentation and insurance coverage

  • Applicants are encouraged to prepare supporting documentation thoroughly and apply well in advance

Documents Required

Proof of Professional Training

  • Documentation confirming qualifications or professional training aligned with the proposed activity
  • Must comply with the provisions of GEO No. 44/2008 concerning economic activities by authorised individuals, including sole traders and family enterprises

Valid Passport

  • Must be valid for at least three months beyond the intended duration of stay in Romania
  • Issued within the last 10 years
  • Must contain at least two blank pages
  • Must be recognised by Romania for visa issuance

Photographs

  • Two recent colour photographs (3 x 4 cm)
  • Dated within 6 months
  • Head should occupy 70%–80% of the photo area

Biometric Data

  • Ten fingerprints will be collected unless previously submitted within the last 59 months
  • Collected in accordance with European and international standards

UK Residency

  • UK eVisa printout from UKVI with a valid share code

Criminal Record Certificate

  • Police clearance or equivalent issued by authorities in the applicant’s country of residence or abode
  • Must confirm absence of criminal convictions

Travel Medical Insurance

  • Must cover the entire duration of the requested stay in Romania
  • Minimum coverage of EUR 30,000
  • Must include emergency medical treatment and repatriation
