Tourist / Visitor Visa – Romania

Overview

The Romania Tourist/Visitor visa is a short-stay Schengen visa (Type C) for non-British residents in the UK travelling to Romania for tourism, visiting family or friends, cultural events, or private travel. It allows stays of up to 90 days within any 180-day period in the Schengen area and may be issued as a single, double, or multiple-entry visa depending on your travel history and supporting documents.

Eligibility

  • Must hold a valid non-UK passport and legal UK residency
  • Passport must be valid for at least three months after the intended departure date from Romania
  • Passport must have been issued within the last 10 years
  • Passport must contain at least two blank pages
  • Must attend a biometric appointment unless exempt (i.e. fingerprints submitted within the last 59 months)

Processing Time

  • Standard processing time is approximately 15 working days
  • Delays may occur during peak periods or if documentation is incomplete
  • Applicants are advised to apply well in advance of travel dates

Documents Required

Harmonised Application Form

  • Completed and signed Schengen visa application form
  • For minors: must be signed by both parents or a legal guardian

Valid Passport

  • Valid for at least three months beyond the intended date of departure from the Schengen area
  • Issued within the last 10 years
  • Must contain at least two blank pages

Photograph

  • One colour photo (35×45 mm)
  • Dated within 6 months
  • Head should occupy 70–80% of the photo
  • Can also be captured digitally during the visa appointment (if required)

Biometric Data

  • Fingerprints will be collected (ten prints), in line with European data protection laws
  • Not required if fingerprints were previously submitted within the last 59 months

UK Residency

  • UK eVisa printout from UKVI with a valid share code

Proof of Travel

  • Confirmed return flight booking or equivalent travel itinerary
  • If in transit: visa or entry permit for the third country, along with onward travel confirmation

Proof of Accommodation

  • Hotel reservation for the full duration of stay, or
  • Invitation letter from host (if staying with friends/family), or
  • Other appropriate accommodation confirmation

Proof of Finance

  • Recent bank statements or supporting evidence confirming sufficient funds for the duration of stay

Travel Medical Insurance

  • Valid for the entire Schengen area
  • Minimum cover of EUR 30,000
  • Must include emergency treatment and repatriation
